The European Union’s programs for displaced talent
The European Commission and several Member States are committed to opening and implementing Displaced Talent Labor Mobility programs in Europe. The EU has a number of interconnected admission measures, responsive to the priorities of each EU country, that cover the conditions of entry and residence for certain categories of immigrants, such as highly qualified workers (Blue Card), as well as the establishment of a single work and residence permit. Immigration procedures and legislation are national based implementing EU Directives.
The startup phase of programs in Europe is sustained through AMIF-funded projects and private donations. Programs are ongoing in Portugal, Belgium, the UK, Ireland, and Italy and will expand in Spain, France, Germany and Slovakia in 2024.
