Origins of Talent Catalog

Talent Catalog was designed by Talent Beyond Boundaries in collaboration with a number of refugees with tech expertise in Lebanon and Jordan in 2016. Talent Catalog was designed to provide employers with the detailed information needed to determine employability. The design team conducted dozens of focus groups with refugees and sought input from a number of experts and stakeholders, including companies, staffing agencies, and job-matching sites, to create a user-friendly, confidential, and comprehensive platform.

John Cameron took charge of leading the development of the Talent Catalog pro bono. The software was rewritten in 2019, funded by a donation from the Cameron Foundation, to move the basic functionality to a more modern, solid, and well-known architecture, making it more accessible for most developers.

Talent Catalog 2.0 was launched in 2020 as an ‘open source’ software initiative in the hope it might be useful to others in the sector. The code is freely available to others to use and improve as a common resource.

We’re continuing to improve the Talent Catalog. See the release notes to see the latest changes.
